I saw Shame with a bunch of friends tonight. I want you to see it too. (And if you do, bring ID cuz it’s rated NC-17 and we got carded.)  But I’m really only posting this to remind myself to think about it even more tomorrow.  Also, I really want that poster.
For those who don’t know, here’s the IMDB description:
In New York City, Brandon’s carefully cultivated private life — which allows him to indulge his sexual addiction — is disrupted when his sister Sissy arrives unannounced for an indefinite stay.
Visually stunning.  Abuses face close-ups a bit, but I think it works to reflect how singularly focused the main character is.  He is so lonely and empty.  Speaking of empty NYC business executives, I definitely saw some American Psycho influence (but really mild. But that’s okay because any influence to AP is good by me).  But the other star of the show besides Michael Fassbender (who is devilishly handsome) is New York City itself.  The shots felt like New York City.  And they beautifully captured how isolating and cruel this city is.  I’d say more about that but I gotta hit the hay.
I don’t know.  I don’t know words.  I’m not doing this film any justice by typing about it.  I need to let it simmer in my brain juices some more.  Seriously go see it I’m still in awe.  I cried a single tear during it not even a lie.
And, yes, there is a butt load of sex and sometimes it’s super sexy but SHAME on you for getting off on this man’s weird sad private life (heh see what I did????)

Totally agree with the above.
